923 E. Kearsley Street    Flint, Michigan  48503    Email: [email protected]

Dear Flint Families,

I am writing to inform you that yesterday evening, Assistant Superintendent Keiona Murphy submitted her letter of resignation from her role at Flint Community Schools, effective May 5. I thank Keiona for her contributions to the district over the past 20 years, and we are working closely to ensure a smooth transition. The Michigan Department of Education and the Genesee Intermediate School District have graciously offered their support in the interim.

Over the last several years, the district has faced a variety of challenges we have been able to overcome with the support of our entire school community, including our scholars, families, teachers, staff, partners and neighbors. Moving forward, we will continue to provide the resources and programs our scholars and families need to succeed, and we remain committed to creating an environment that is safe, stable and productive.

The team at Flint Community Schools believes that with your continued support, we can overcome any challenges that come our way. We look forward to working with you to keep our scholars on the right path in their educational journeys. We take this responsibility very seriously and will do everything in our power to ensure our scholars receive the highest quality education possible with little to no disruptions.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for serving as our partner in your child’s education. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected].

Educationally Yours,

Kevelin Jones
