Did you know that Flint Community Schools has a School Wellness Program? This state grant funded program provides for nurses in every school building and clinical therapists at DTM, Freeman, Holmes, and Southwestern! I am looking for parents and community members that may be interested in sitting on this program's Community Advisory Committee. This committee meets at least twice a year to discuss the program and look at ways to improve its services, to best provide for our scholars. On December 7, our amazing 5th & 6th graders from Doyle-Ryder Education Center performed at the UAW 598 Christmas Program, spreading holiday cheer through beautiful Christmas songs. 🎄🎤
Our scholars did an outstanding job and were even recognized with a donation in appreciation of their performance—well deserved! 👏

PUBLIC NOTICE - FLINT BOARD OF EDUCATION: Monday, December 22, 2025, Special Board Meeting at 4:30PM. FCS Administration Building, 923 E. Kearsley St., Flint, MI 48503. This special meeting is regarding the Northwestern High School building issues.
Immunization Requirement Reminder:
Michigan law requires school aged students to be up to date with their childhood immunizations. Every student is required to have up to date immunization records on file. If these records are not provided, that child is not allowed to continue attending class. If you have received letters and calls about your child not being up to date, your child's classes will be closed upon return from winter break. Please see attached documents for more information on how to ensure your child's classes do not get closed. Our goal is for no child to have to miss class time due to this requirement. Please visit your child's primary care doctor or the local health department to receive the required documentation. I hope everyone has a beautiful and restful break!

ICYMI: Doyle-Ryder Community Education Center partnered with New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church – COFY Center to bless 100 families with turkeys this Thanksgiving season. Community School Director David Bush and the Flint Thrive team helped distribute turkeys to Doyle-Ryder families and members of the community.
